35 + 2 + 1 + 23 = 0 ??

abacus35 + 2 + 1 + 23 = 0 ??

What kind of crazy ass sum is this you might be thinking? Let me explain…

35…degrees Celsius in London last week!

I had to travel to London last week for work and I was there when temperatures reached the highest they had ever been in JulyThankfully, I was working in a very nice office which had fantastic air conditioning but unfortunately, I was staying in a hotel which had a mini fan. It was a low-cost chain hotel and you get what you pay for but I will discuss that another time.

The office I was working in had all other mod cons too such as 60 inch dual touch screens and a wall which was basically a big white board that I could scribble on – honestly, I felt like a little kid at NASA and even had a play around when there was no delegates in the room – awesome!

I was there for 2 nights and I did consider going “up London” after work thinking it would only be a 10 minute tube journey from the area I was staying – London is a small place, right? Wrong – it would have taken me 70 minutes and the thought of doing that during rush hour on the hottest day since time began didn’t really appeal to me so I found a good old reliable Wetherspoons and chilled out there.

2…cities to visit…

Once I had finished my time in London I was straight back on a plane to another city – Inverness this time. After being in the heat for 2 days I really didn’t think that my Primark shoes would cope to last the distance and survive the heat. They did and I gave myself a nice reward after checking in to a slightly more upmarket hotel…

The room was on the ground floor and was designed for disabled access – but I have to say (probably something very non politically correct) that having a little seat in the shower and being able to get the entire floor of the bathroom wet was a joy!

After my travels I checked what the weather forecast was to be for my day off and I was overjoyed when I saw it was to be sunny and at least 22 degrees. Right! This is the first year that our garden is fully complete and I had never yet had a fine summer day enjoying it…until this day. One day, one garden, one sun and one lounger and I was set…

One minute after setting it up I had one unwanted gatecrasher…

The following day we had out first ever “proper” barbecue and had a bunch of people from Greg’s work come over. The entire morning it was pissing down with rain but as soon as it was 1 o’clock the skies cleared up in time for the first guest to arrive. It was a great day but I had one hell of a hangover the next day!

23…episodes of American Horror Story…

What better way to nurse a hangover than to stay in bed for an entire day and binge watch my new favourite show? I love this show and I can’t remember the last time I stayed in bed for an entire day – it was just what I needed. I’m now on Season Three and I can’t stop watching it – I love the story, the characters, the actors…EVERYTHING. If you’ve not watched it and you like a bit of gore I would really recommend it. I’ll be doing more posts about this so watch this space!

So adding up all of the above numbers, 35 + 2 + 1 + 23, why does it equal 0 in this instance?

0…posts on my blogs…

Since I have been so busy with one thing or another I have not posted anything for a while on this blog or my music blog talkaboutpopmusic.net which includes missing some regular daily or weekly features. Did I worry? Should I have apologised to anyone who reads them daily? Did anyone even notice?

It’s a simple no to all of these as I refer back to an earlier post called “Don’t Suffer The Blog-Guilts And Just Blog On…” which basically says that blogging is a pleasure and not a chore and I intend to keep sticking to that motto.

However, normal service should resume after this weekend with all my regular posts back to normal and be intertwined with my random (and awesome?) nonsense. It has made me realise again that sometimes life does get in the way and sometimes I can’t always keep up with all my posting and reading that I would like but that’s just the way it goes. I’m also never scared of asking for help so if there is anyone out there who wants to help out from time to time and contribute to some of my regular posts then speak up now as I think that would be a great opportunity to increase traffic for everyone involved. Just drop me a note if you’re interested…

For now, I’m off to binge watch more American Horror Story and it will be great to get back to normal in a few days time – thanks, as always, for listening!

  1. Nice to see you again Steve. I had wondered what had happened – I even went to your blog to check that WordPress had unfollowed you. One year, while I was in London we had a heat wave. So hot that the bus motors overheated and broke down. This was in the days before decent air conditioning too. Very unpleasant. We are in winter here – bloody cold today. Snow around us, but not where I live. Brrrr

  2. Don’t tell everyone about the awesome shower seat! They’ll all want the accessible room we’ve been advocating for 🙂

Glad they had an accessible room. We shouldn’t have to still ask about access when making reservations, but of course we do.
